Lack of Conference
Doesn't Dampen Enthusiasm of Independent Ballers

Confidence
is high!
That's
probably the main theme of the replies to my probing preseason questions
to the owners of the independant teams. Confidence in their ballin'
abilities, confidence in EA Sports to deliver another stellar product
for 2004 and, most importantly, confidence in DaONE being the premier
online league for the upcoming season.
There was no crying about
getting the rough end of the pineapple with team selection (if the
baller didn't get the team he wanted). If anything, team strength
didn't even seem to be an issue.
Batman30 didn't seem
to bothered he drew UConn, more renowned for hoops than pigskin.
His clash with Tale of Woe's Virginia Tech Hokies definitely puts
him in the underdog category, but to steal a phrase from TDAUG,
"It's the scheme not the team.”
W2B was stoked to get
his Midshipmen and is psyching on his traditional rivals, Afroman's
Air Force and his season-ending clash with DNA666's Army.
TDAUG
is looking to bring the Irish back to the glory days of the ’70s
and ’80s. After last year’s great building season (only
soured by the 28-6 Gator Bowl loss to North Carolina State) he should
have a very strong roster to play with. Big Roob's Florida State
Seminoles and BigWill33's Pittsburgh Panthers will be the DAUG's
major hurdles on his way to being DaONE.
Stench’s pick of
the head-to-head games has to be the Midshipmen vs. the Irish. The
last time these ballers met on the virtual gridiron, TDAUG was belted
by W2B's Bengals. Anyone who can beat you with John Kitna deserves
the utmost respect. Could be a Navy upset on the cards?
Although Kadzooman didn't
get his beloved Georgia Bulldogs (MadSci pegged them; it's good
to be king) he is rollin' with his hometown Troy State Trojans.
Although he might not have the strongest roster, a hard-nosed ground
game and smothering “D” is his recipe for success. When
it comes to the match-ups with CBRO's Nebraska Cornhuskers and jms493's
Marshall Thundering Herd, the K-man reckons he'll be as hard to
contain as his namesake Ivy.
Conference?
The only conference these guys wanna be in is the one at the end
of the season with 64 teams. All have their game faces ready, all
are veteran online ballers and all want to be DaONE!
